"Ich bin ein Berliner!" - JFK, June 26, 1963 Rathaus Schoeneberg, Berlin
Today, the 3-CD set Zeitgeist Concert was released. There are three good reasons to buy this inexpensive set immediately, as you can win a very lucrative deal with Eastgate, if you are among the first 200 hundred to order.
I didn't enjoy the concert for various, mainly personal, reasons. At that time I simply had OD'ed on my TDOCD, and should have stayed at home. Sitting on the third row, I felt the performance was like watching a DVD or listening to a CD.
However, I think the complete excerpt of CD THREE in the TDOC sounds very good. It doesn't sound particularly live on the electronic side, but still like a good mixture of tracks. So I might end up buying this collection of tracks - once more.
Below are the interview bits from the Tangerine Dream special on ARfm Edgar did to promote the concert.
Here is something that might be of interest to the German fans. On September 10, the 1979 TV series, Das verbotene Spiel, will finally get a release on DVD.
Edgar Froese produced the rather fine soundtrack for the series, which is a children's sci-fi story, set in the 22nd century, where playing is forbidden, because in a world without competion or individuality, all people are equal. To educate the kids about the ideal society they live in, time travels to the past are made, to all sorts of eras, like "era of the plague" or the 1970's "era of the dying fishes". During the travel to that era, the three kids Jet, Jer, Asa and their teacher Gen accidentally approaches a puppet theatre group, that ignites their desire to play and be like children used to be. When they return to the 22nd century they face a difficult time.
I've actually already had the pleasure of watching this series, thanks to a very friendly TD fan from Germany, and I found it rather interesting, despite of its low-budgetness.
Found this intro on Youtube, where the sound is missing (unfortunately).
In 2006, a 4½ minute music excerpt of Edgar Froese's score was featured on the fan release Tangerine Tree Volume 80: Assorted Secrets 4. Unfortunately, the source was not good.
